The arrest came about when troopers were dispatched to Hudson River Housing to assist New York State parole officers with a parolee, identified as Lawrence Taylor, who was reportedly in possession of a firearm on Wednesday at about 9 p.m., according to state police.
Parole officers conducting a home visit at Taylor’s residence had located a loaded Smith and Wesson .32 caliber revolver, state police said.
The suspect was taken into custody and arraigned in the Town of LaGrange Court after the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision issued a warrant ordering his arrest, according to state police.
Taylor has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony, state police said.
The defendant was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail, according to state police.
He is scheduled to reappear in LaGrange Court on Tuesday, Oct. 18, state police said.
